Digital Storytelling

This video was inspired by my experience my senior year during varsity football. Our head coach was suspended the first day of practice, however we still conquered our goals and persevered througout the season and won the conference championship. This was a valuable life experience for me because it taught me that even though you may face adversity if you want to accomplish something nothing will get in your way. "Tough Times Don't Last, Tough People Do"

To complete this assignment I used photostory 3 for windows. This was my first experience using photostory and I was extremely impressed. Photostory was not too advanced for what I wanted to do with it, and it was pretty self explanatory. I followed the link that was provided by our professor and downloaded the software. Once downloaded, I then opened it and right away it gives you the option to create a new story. I found this very beneficial because I am not a fan of non-user friendly software. Once I clicked on starting a new project, it gave me the option to upload pictures. I uploaded my pictures and they were placed in the edit line where I could then rearrange my pictures as I saw fit. Once I uploaded my photos I then proceeded to the next step. This step was the option for adding a title to each of my pictures. Since I was going to narrate this project later I didn’t feel that I needed to title my pictures, but it was nice having the option. Then, I was given the option to narrate each of my photos. This is where I would spend most of my time. However, it was still really simple. Click on the picture and then put what you are going to say in the note box and record. After the narrations it then gave you an option to add music. This was also another option that I did not use, but I may in the future. This was all done while still having the options of using the back and next buttons in case you made a mistake. Once you are satisfied with your project you then can save it and it converts it to a windows movie file. This program was not hard to use at all and it was pretty self explanatory. It only took a few minutes of clicking around to get the hang of it and then you could go onto master other skills that it gave you options for. I was really surprised with this program and it is something I will definitely use in the future, especially in my classroom.
